Mtro. ENRIQUE GOMEZ

 

-          He was bom in Montevideo, Uruguay (1961), musician, author and composer.

-          He started studying solfeo and acordeon at seven. Lately, he studied piano and bandoneon.

-          He studied Harmony in the Town Shool, Vocal Technique in the Liric Art National School in Montevideo, and Orchestra Direction and instrumentation in the Culture Center of Terezópolis (Brazil).

-          He formed his first musical group at fifteen. At this same age, he entered the Uruguayan General Author Asociation (AGADU).

-          He was written and domposed several melodies and lyrics for theatre plays, publicitarian “jingles” and he has also participated in the uruguayan Carnaval; not only as a music director, composer and author of most of the lyrics and songs, but also as an active member of Carnaval groups.

-          In 1982, he creates the group “Brindis”. At this same yeas, he iniciates his international activity and also wins the Prize “Revelation of the year” in the 18º National Folklore Festival.

-          In 1995, the “Patriotic Circle of  Montevideo” honored him with the title “Embassador of the Uruguayan Music”.

-          In 1996 he creates the “Uruguayan Tango Cía”, a Company that has definitly imposed a new stetical tendency in the uruguayan tango, with a very personal and particularly innovating style in this gender, which he denominates “Tecnotango”.

-          He creates and produces the “First National Student Certamen of Tango”, which was declared as one of the main national tango events ever developed and produced in Uruguay. It was considered a tremendous seccess as 400.000 students attended.

-          He writes and composes the “oficial tango” in ocation to celebrate the 90º Aniversary of one of the most important seasides: Punta del Este. This tango was titulated “Flowery Garden” and it was the very first registered in AGADU which was dedicated to this city.

-          He recieves a mention as “Musician and Composer of the year” (1997) in the “Artigas and Oriental Merits to Peace” of the Orienatal Culture Asociation.

-          The Presidency of the General Legislative Assambley and the “Friends of the Patrimony” Association give him a medal for his support and dedicated participation in the “National Patrimony´s Day”.

-          He is invited by the UN (United Nations) to offer a concert in the Multinational Peace Base in Sinai (Egypt).

-          His profesional formation reveals he is a Profesional Cultural Manager, and that he has studied Public Relations, Publicity, Journalism, Marketing, Management, etc.
